You’re dreaming of white sandy beaches when this beeping sound comes from the sky. And it gets louder. So loud in fact, you wake up. What do you do?
I don’t have a morning routine, if I’m being honest. I wish I did. I’ve tried to set up one for a few years now. You know? Get into a habit. The thing is, Mondays and Wednesdays I work later in the day which goes well into the evening. The rest of the weekdays are normal 9 to 5 days. This makes it a bit harder to plan my mornings.
Excuses!
I know. It definitely sounds like it.
But if I was to narrow the focus to what do I do every morning, regardless of time, it would be folding my blankets.
Seriously?
Seriously.
Regardless whether it’s the weekend or weekday. Regardless if it’s 5 a.m. or 10 a.m. One thing you can count on me doing, unless I woke up late and I’m pressed for time, is folding my blanket.
This one … habit, for lack of better word, started when I was a kid. The first thing we had to do, after we’ve rubbed the sleep out of our eyes, is to fold our blankets. My siblings and I never really had a bed to sleep in, or a bedroom for that matter, so we had to clean up our sleep areas every morning, which was usually in the living room. We used to sleep on the floor of the living room, on blankets of course. And sometimes on couches or a pull out mattress. And since these weren’t in a room, we’d have to clean it up in the mornings.
So now, when I wake up and start my day, I fold my blanket. It doesn’t feel right if I forget to do it or if some days I feel rebellious and leave it.
