Educational Pursuits: Wrapping up Western Civilization

What a week! This the final week of classes for me. I just wrapped up and turned in my final essay. And with my final exam due by next Sunday I’ve been reviewing some of my reading assignments and notes and wow! I really felt I learned a lot.

This 8-week semester course was on Western Civilization since the 30 years war. This is part two of Western Civilization, part one being Western Civilization from Ancient Civilization up to the 30 years war. And boy did I learn a lot from this whole segment of course work. Unbelievable really. There was Mesopotamia, then the rise and fall of the Geek and Roman Empires, scholasticsm , the Middle Ages, the 30 yrs. War, absolutism and constitutionalism, the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte, the Napoleonic Wars, the Congress of Vienna, the Crimean War, WWI, WWII, and many in between happenings. That is a whole lot of history and I loved every minute of it, the Geek that I am.

So what’s next? Well, next week I jump into World Civilization. Will I learn the same stuff? Most likely, but I’m looking forward to the fact that I’ll also be learning other stuff like maybe a little of Asia or Australia. The course syllabus comes out tomorrow so I’ll get a better feel, but now all my classes will be focusing on my core requirements so I’m stoked about that as well. I’m well into my sophomore year in school and I can’t wait to take the next step forward.

Cheers to education!
