Well, when I first started taking blogging seriously, I wasn’t sure where I was going with it. I didn’t think I’d be posting regularly or have a good amount of followers or anything like that. I just wanted to get over my fear of writing for public, or should I say, get comfortable with “public” writing.
And when I was reading up on all kinds of blogging things to become a “better” blogger, many of them suggested, rather strongly, on creating an editorial calendar. It’s not that I didn’t agree with them, but I didn’t even know what I wanted to write about so how could I possibly set a calendar? The idea stuck with me, though.
Now that I’ve gotten in the habit (finally *rolling eyes*) on posting regularly and now that I’ve developed some kind of system (hopefully),I decided to see if I could put together an editorial calendar and you now what? I’m kinda lovin’ it! Whether or not I’ll actually follow it is another thing, but I feel so much better to have a set schedule to kind of follow. And it focuses my mind a little when it comes to my writing. Almost liberating.
It’s not so specific either. Just a bunch of thoughts about certain things I can write about. This isn’t new. I scribble down ideas in my little black book often, only now I’ve assigned days to it. That’s about it.
But a writer never really follows the rules, right? We’re observers of life and just have to scribble notes about whatever captures our attention. So, I’ll still go a little crazy and be a little random, just better prepared for it 😉 .
