Because of sick leave

I did it again, didn’t I? Not posting for a week. My goodness. I am weak!

But I wasn’t feeling too well last week. For the most part. It’s a bit frustrating since it happens more often than not, but allergies kicked my butt and then gave me a headache and then I was just plain tired. Not to mention, during that exhaustion, I still had to complete my homework. It was a struggle with my last essay. On the Stoic philosopher, Herillus. Which there is almost no information on.

So, I’m calling it sick leave. Yep. Sick. Leave (which I also did for work, mind you). I mean, how can you possibly concentrate on writing when you’re sniffling, your eyes are itchy, and your head is pounding? But I digress.

Here’s to the last few days in September!

Shall we make the most of it?

Another day

As you can see, my mind is still on pause and I am truly sorry for it. I will get back to my regular programming soon.

In fact, take comfort in knowing that I am in process. I am catching up on all my back log that accumulated while my mind was lost in the twilight zone (I may be a tad be dramatic, but I can. It’s my rabbit hole after all). So, I’m reading as fast as I can and watching as fast as I can and hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to put it all together.

So thank you for your patience and for you understanding (that is if you’ve been patiently waiting and checking my blog every chance you get 😉).

Wish me luck!

Dear 2015, It’s almost 2016!

December 31, 2015

I can’t believe another year has flown by!

It’s been a chaotic second half of the year and I had technical difficulties regarding Internet connectivity. How has your year been going.

I didn’t read as many books as I wanted to, ending this year at 48 out of 75 books read. I want to say it’s because I was busy, and I was, but how much of that is excuse and how much is sincerity? But I’m not upset. It was just that kind of year. Some years are up and others are down. We’ll call this a draw.

I did add a few more TV shows to my queue, ending the year watching Veronica Mars. I believe I’m on season three, but I couldn’t handle not knowing if Logan and Veronica survive so I jumped ahead and watched the movie.

It’s cheating, I know. But I can’t help it.

I can’t bring myself to finish Suits or Downton Abbey. I’m dragging my feet on Once Upon A Time, Reign, and Vampire Diaries. I’m not sure why. Could it be I’m falling out of love with them?

Blasphemy, I know. But I’m loving Scorpion and BBC has finally started filming for Sherlock Season 4!

Movies watched was a draw as well.

As I said, a down year.

But 2016 is looking brighter. Here’s hoping anyway. I’m in the middle of revamping my blog so we’ll see how the year goes.

So, best of luck to to you 2015. You’ve been a good friend.

Thank you for a great year!

Excuses, Excuses: Back on my feet?

Whoever said things happen in threes might be on to something. In my last “Excuses” post (here), my wifi went down. It’s not completely up, but I admit, I’ve been able to work on my homework and watch a couple of movies and my TV shows. I’m looking into a range extended or a new router in hopes to remedy this. Regrettably, money does not grow on trees and finding the end of a rainbow is so darned hard so fitting it into my budget is going to take a little while.

Since then, I went through my great grandfather’s funeral. He was one hundred and two.

Did you say 102?

I did say one hundred and two.

That is not a typo, which is why I actually typed it out so you would take me seriously.

While his death wasn’t unexpected, there was a lot my family had to manage. Emotions are sneaky little time-suckers. My brother and I read through his eulogy, each taking turns, and it was a nice speaking collaboration written by my grandmother, who is my great grandfather’s daughter. So there as pre-funeral preparations and then the funeral and of course there was an after party! And I say that with no disrespect. My family is huge and you can’t have something like this without having an after party after the parties. It was a nice get together at the beach. We had some laughs, updated our genealogy, and–you’ll never believe this, but–we started to plan our family reunion.

Turns others in the Fu family requested that our family plan the reunion since we have the largest. It’s a reasonable request and, well, my family loves to plan so … the day after the funeral, after some good food and catch up, we sat down to nail down a date, a location, and a general itinerary for our family reunion.

As you can imagine, this put me behind in school work. I’ve rushed to catch up when I had the chance. We’re talking juggling the time between family, work, and then family, and then between pesky wifi downtimes. And as challenging as it was, it was kind fun to try to catch up.

Luckily I had some vacation time. In fact, I’m on leave now, but more on that in another post. After all, this is my excuse list so … yeah.

Which brings me to challenge number three.

Getting sick.

On your vacation?!

I know, right?! Can you believe that? Day three on my vacation I wake up with this itch in my throat, which turned into a sore throat by the afternoon, which lead into a headache. By the next morning (yesterday), I had a small cough, a runny nose, and the immense desire to just stay in bed and binge watch Suits. I did take some ibuprofen and drank tons of water. I feel better now, but really, I was down for the count yesterday. It was miserable. And I’m on vacation!

Signs.

So here I am. Back on my feet? Ready to roll? I’m not sure, but I’m crossing my fingers for a better month ahead, especially since November is National Writer’s Month, or NaWriMo which has a sub-category of NaBloMo for National Bloggers Month.

So … *crossing my fingers* in getting back on my feet.

Dear 2015, It’s September!

September 1st, 2015

Hello 2015!

My goodness, it’s been a while since I’ve written! I’d like to say I’ve been touring Europe or something extravagant, but, alas, just caught up in life. I’ve disappeared into my mind while I reevaluate my life. It’s been tough to get over, but here I am!

Truthfully, there hasn’t been many book releases that I’ve been excited about, nor have there been any movies that I haven’t really been aching to see. So it’s been a slow summer for me. Although I did get a chance to catch myself up on Scorpion. It’s totally cool! I had to jump through hoops though. I can’t watch it on my iPhone nor on Hulu. I had to download the CBS app to my Kindle in order to watch it for free. While I don’t mind, it’s just one more platform for me to add to the entertainment arsenal. I mean, really. I have Netflix for movies, which I watch on any device. And Hulu, which I can watch on any device. If I need to buy a season, I generally buy it on Amazon to watch on my Kindle. And now I have to download another app to watch one show. *shakes my head*. Ah well, welcome to the 21st Century, eh?

And what have you been up to? You look like you’ve been busy as well, with all these Presidential candidate debates and these weather patterns you’re sending out into the Pacific Ocean. Jeepers! And don’t even get me started on the pop culture scene. My goodness.

Well, we’re officially entering the home stretch of 2015. I can’t wait for Autumn.

Let’s make it a good four months!

Random 411: The end of the weekend

Well, it’s the countdown to the end of the weekend and the beginning of a new week. I have to say, I didn’t realize how much I love weekends until I didn’t have one.

There’s nothing particularly interesting that happens on the weekend for me but then again I think that’s the point. Not doing anything. Just taking a day or two out of a usually busy life to just enjoy it. To catch a breath. To just enjoy existing.

And I don’t particularly dislike Mondays, but … well, it’s a Monday. It signals the beginning of another week. The moment when it seems you press the pause button and life starts playing again.

So, I’m counting down another great weekend. I read a little, exercised my mind a little, did my homework, enjoyed a little theatre … essentially, I played. And since I had time to recharge my batteries I’m ready for a new week.

Hope everyone got a chance to relax a little and enjoyed life this weekend.

Here’s to fun!
