Yes. You read that right. First Year is now on pause.
Call me a coward or whatever but I need to see how this story is going to play out before I invest my time and energy into it.
Eighty-five pages in and my intuition is kicking into high gear, tell me “are you sure you want to get into this story?”
I think it has to do with the story is going well so far. So well that I cannot help but think it’s going to go wrong. SO WRONG. Like in an epic way. And since that’s happened to me before, getting into a middle of a series only to get mad because it went wrong I don’t wish to repeat it.
Now, I understand that not all stories can be wrapped up nicely and have rainbow and roses throughout the story. But in a story where things get intense and the heroes of the story reach that conflict that challenges them, there’s always a risk that the author may not quite pull it off. Things will be anticlimactic or the “twist” in the story just doesn’t work.
And since I’ve been there before. Yes, I’m putting this book on pause and going hunting for spoilers.
