It’s My Party!

So … it’s my birthday.

Yep. November 7th.

I’m on my 5th year of being 27 😉 .

I’m sharing this information because, well, because it’s my birthday!

I usually don’t make a big deal of it and, actually, I didn’t make a big deal of it today, but in the past I’d be tight-lipped about it. I’m still tight-lipped (except when it comes to Facebook). I don’t really share my birthday with anyone, I repeat anyone, except family and friends.

But why? You ask.

Well, it’s mainly because I want to see who remembers and who doesn’t. I know, that’s kind of … well, I don’t know what it’s kind of, but I find it very amusing to see who remembers and who doesn’t. I still do, except now with Facebook I get like 20+ messages from friends and family wishing me a great birthday so that kind of sucks some fun out of it, but it doesn’t mean I still can’t see who sends me a text or a birthday card (in fact, I have a pen pal from Germany who sent a card! I haven’t heard from this pen pal in almost a year, but they remembered. Love that!).

And I don’t get mad or upset when people don’t remember (except maybe just a little when it’s a close family member or friend, but really, it’s only for like a few seconds). That is what amuses me, actually. In fact, if I’m talking to someone who should know it’s my birthday and they don’t wish me a happy birthday, I’m giggling to myself because they forgot. It’s like my secret, you know? And I know it doesn’t matter to them, but it’s still like “*giggles to myself* They forgot! They have no idea it’s my birthday!”

Weird, I know. But that doesn’t change the fact that I still do it. I don’t know why.

It amuses me the most when someone remembers after my birthday. Like they go, “Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry I forgot your birthday.”

At the end of my birthday, I usually reflect on all the birthday wishes, because let’s be honest it feels good when someone remembers. It’s no big deal when I think about all the birthday wishes, only that it was a good day and that I’m so thankful I’m surrounded by friends and family who do wish me a happy birthday.

So, on that note, thank you to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday and not to worry if you didn’t. After all, I have 364 unbirthdays that you can make it up on :).

Have a great weekend everyone!
