Wise Words: “One must be careful of books …”

This morning I was thinking about what to blog about when a friend shared this BuzzFeed post. Now, there are a lot of sentences on there that I wanted to share, because they’re all awesome (okay, I know I use that word a lot, but just bleep it out of your mind if you find it irritating, because I don’t think I’ll stop using it, okay?), but I zeroed in on this because I highlighted this quote when I first read through this series ( Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, by the way, and my favorite out of the two she wrote–not including Bane Chronicles).

There have been so many experiences that I have had the privilege of experiencing because of books. Living on a small island, in the middle of the pacific ocean, makes it difficult to experience the world first hand. Currently, airfare from my island to the international airport (located on a different island) can cost up to $98 one wayCrazy? I know. But, believe me, I’ve seen it. So reading has been the next best thing and you know what? Books do change us. They give you different perspectives and even though you don’t always agree with them, you have the privilege of experiencing what the other side may be thinking, feeling.  And I don’t know how to explain it. It just is. Words matter. They make a difference. And most times, they have a lasting impact.
